School-Age Program Fall 2020-2021
As we continue to receive information from area school districts regarding what education will look like in the fall, we recognize that the need for reliable, experienced support for our students and their families is more important than ever. Being both parents and teachers ourselves, we understand the challenge of working while trying to keep up with our children’s distance learning tasks and requirements. We have listened to what you as parents want and need for your child, and we are pleased to be able to offer both part-time and full-time school-age program options for grades K through 3rd at MELC for the 2020-2021 school year.
Mrs. Amelia and Mrs. Ashley will serve as our school-age program teachers, dedicated to helping your child navigate the new norm of distance learning and guiding them through their lessons and schoolwork. A dedicated quiet classroom will allow for uninterrupted Zoom meetings, while our gym will continue to allow open work and activity space. Our teachers will ensure your child attends all Zoom meetings between 9:00am and 3:00pm and will help your child stay on top of their assignments by providing plenty of one-on-one assistance, as needed.
Depending upon your child’s workload, there may be some homework, just as there would be with traditional in-person schooling, and parents will be asked to look over their child’s work and review it before submitting it from home. Specialist coursework, such as PE and music, will be generalized for the group, and any assignments specific to your child could be completed at home.
Of course, our care here at MELC goes beyond Zoom meetings and schoolwork. The high-quality childcare you’ve come to expect from MELC is included in the cost of tuition. In addition to the typical school hours, your before and after school care (up to 10 hours per day) is included. Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks is provided, and your child will enjoy time to play outside on our large field and play structures and inside during break times. As always, we will keep you involved and up to date via our Brightwheel app to let you know what and how your child is doing each day.
In order to maximize individual attention and support, the program will be limited to 15 students. We will open registration first to those families requiring full-time care and who are completing an entirely online curriculum. Registration for full-time students will be open until July 31. Beginning August 1, we will open the program to part-time students – those who will be participating in a hybrid model in the fall of both in-person and online learning.
The costs are as follows:
K-1st grade $1200
2nd-3rd grade $1125
Part-Time (3 days/wk)
K-1st grade $720.00
2nd and 3rd Grades $675.00
To reserve your child’s spot, complete a registration form (available on our website) and submit a half month’s non-refundable deposit.
We continue to strive to offer consistent, quality care and support to our students and their families throughout these difficult and changing times. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact anyone on our management or school-age program team. We look forward to working with you to see your child succeed!
